Quality Pistes and Blue Skies
Today, the snow coverage on all pistes from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the lower slopes was in perfect condition. Super fast corduroy carved out by the piste bashers during the night.
The sun was shining without a cloud in the sky which helped bring the temperature to between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius during much of the afternoon. The warmth of the sun began to soften some of the southerly facing slopes just a little in the afternoon which slowed them down just a little. However the majority of slopes remained in great condition with just a shallow layer of soft snow being thrown up as you carved your way down the mountain.
No lift queues to be seen in Chatel
Much of the day was spend in Les Linderets below Avoriaz village and also over into the Plaine Dranse in Chatel where the slopes were just a little less crowded. Although, the Arare and Fornet areas high up above Avoriaz were very quiet in the afternoon suggesting a good few had chosen to have long lunches whilst basking in the warmth of the sunshine.
No new snow is forecast for the next couple of days so hopefully we’ll hold on to the sunshine for a while.
